These are both from a trip to Monkton this morning to BaltiOrganic farm (http://baltimorganic.com/) . The first is a beautiful okra bloom (don't tell my sister - the okra is a surprise). The second picture is a butterfly on a flower.

It all started with okra. On Wednesday I saw Angelika at a Dharma Mittra IV class for teachers only at Charm City Yoga. I asked her what they were harvesting. She said "Zucchini, squash, okra . . . you name it!" The okra got my attention. My sister Deena loves fried okra almost more than anything. I asked (almost begged) if I could come out for some okra on Friday.
BaltimOrganic is a farm located in Monkton, MD. Angelika was so nice to show me around. It was a delightful hour even in the heat. I picked up some nice produce and just refreshed my spirit being near all that life bursting out of the ground! Angelika and I talked about veggies and she showed me where they planted three-year old paw-paw trees. There's a song about paw-paws. I coudn't remember it this morning so I had to come home and look it up. The chorus goes like this: Pickin' up paw-paws; put 'em in a basket.

We also talked how sad it is that we (us people) are so disconnected from our food sources. The home page of the BaltimOrganic website asks the question "Who's your farmer?" Well. Do you know? . . . . BUY LOCAL!
